BSOD When Playing MW2

About a year ago I had RAM that would act up and blue screen during COD4. The ELBY stuff belongs to: The process ElbyCD Windows NT/2000/XP I/O driver or ElbyCD Windows NT/2000 I/O driver belongs to the software CDRTools or ElbyCDIO Driver or DVD Region Killer or as long as you have good airflow, its fine. I've seen higher temps playing Crysis Warhead on max settings. Soon as I replaced the RAM that BSODs stopped and a year later haven't come back. System spec: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2.34 GHz Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 Hope that you can help me. I will still update the drivers you said though cheers for that.

It should be available at the motherboard manufacturer's website. All of my hardware is the same and when i upgraded to Windows 8 i performed a CLEAN install.

What exactly is happening when the game crashes? It's odd, if i run it in safe mode (which turns down all the graphics) it runs for a bit longer before crashing; this is why I suspect it could be

  • Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows.
  • it was way too hot.
  • I have not changed any hardware, and suspect something around the game being updated has started to cause me problems.

Your drivers should be fine (Most of the time you'll get errors right off the bat if they are out of wack)but if you have not updated them .. Thank you and I hope to receive help with this. CPU temps are normal as are the GPU temps, and my FPS doesn't drop below 35. I can only play maybe 20 minutes if that of any game until I receive the BSOD. welshmousepkJan 17, 2010, 3:36 AM @triton: yes i found that lowering in game settings considerably did seem to solve the issue.

Can it be that RAM gets to hot?

Edit replying to Buster I revently downloaded a driver update ( or what i thought was an update) but ended up coming up with this error message when i started it PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA or something.. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. I'm glad that you were able to solve this.

Turns out that one of my sticks of ram was corrupted which led to memory leaks; when playing MW2 it ended up making it BSOD pretty quickly. Sorry one more thing to add, I am now running it on Windows 8 and I understand this is Windows 7 forum but I can always downgrade back to Windows 7.
