solved COmputer Won't boot up with monitor cable attached to Video card but perfectly when hooked to the onboard video. I imagine the actually repeatability of this comes down to... 1. However, the panel had the same crash.
It points to a bug in the game's reading/handling of configs or windows settings.

This was the only application that seemed to recognize the Nvidia working, but it still wasn't. It used to, and playing the game was fine at low quality settings but either a recent E: D build or NVidia driver has changed that. i have an NVidia 8800 GTS card. so I won't be able to try until later tonight..
