A bad disk. when i exit from running an older video game all the desktop icons flash and i am unable to do pretty much anything. I've been having this problem trying to open avi files, so this tip is much appreciated. They replied to this post by saying that there is no known issue with the usb boost. Ask us here at /r/techsupport, and try to help others with their problems as well! i have had nothing but issues with these enclosures and avoid them myself (though i'm sure my experience is not the norm). Windows Explorer still works as I believe it was intended. NOTE: I don't have the vista installation disk, vista came pre-installed on the laptop without a CD. I tried different softwares like partition magic but they just hang on "detecting devices" as soon as I turn the disk on. After you plug it in after that, the drivers should automatically download and install.Also, there is a possibility that this is a USB controller drivers issue. You may also uninstall your USB drivers in Device Manager; reboot, and see if that helps.
