I've used System Restore numerous times since 2002 and it's extremely rare for it not to work in my experience. Also checked Windows Manager and it is OK. After losing years of stuff (none of which was really that important, I guess), I started backing up regularly. It hates that!

I actually re-install my system annually just to clear up all of the junk that Windows tends to accumulate. Other sites want you to download install and run a fix tool for it. Either way, System Restore isn’t going to fix your problem. Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post.
