Gozer I have a 3 week old Dell Optiplex 760 that emulates the exact same problem as you describe. I SINCERELY thank you for Evan for the post. Basically detects no hard drive.On the HP Diagnostics, it says everything is Ok. Your solution worked great and I wish I would have seen it first. Others include memory check, command prompt and others. Barb Hi Evan, Just used your fix (see post above) and it worked like a charm. Plus, I have never gotten that blue screen before.

I was very ticked off after down loading new updates and BSoD appeared.
I attached the flash drive containing the driver files you asked me to download, and I tried each and every drivers listed, but all in vain. Walked out of dere..nd googled the probelm.. How did Microsoft miss this, foe heaven's sake? System Restore Did Not Complete Successfully 0x80070005 on reboot, everything works fine for a week or so the wham, it happens again.
Both of those are essentially in-place reinstalls and the articles we linked do talk about doing a reinstall using the traditional method.
