Default programs should NOT be changed by Microsoft going from one Windows 10 build to another. Very time consuming to be fixing their mistakes. I needed to change it back to FoxIt Reader. The updates in question have installed on another PC running Windows 7 Professsional. Check This Out

Windows Update Shows Updates Already Installed
I was able to see updates after 2 reboots (some of these KB updates required reboot). My solution was to kill the WUSA process and boot just in case. Nikos Solution 1 works (December 2016) on a clean install of Windows 7 Pro x64. I've read that some people were able to still get the 64bit version to work with a fresh install rather than upgrade.
- after few upgrades with windows update, it got frozen several times and automatic reverted back to my previous version.
- Stop Windows Update services with command 'net stop wuauserv' 3.
- Daddy0 Gianni, KB3145379 is a critical security update for Windows.
- I takes me this much just to get to Point A.Apple is just as bad.

I see. There is a MS KB article on how to troubleshoot this problem, but they suggest manually installing downloaded updates in Safe Mode, which is impossible in Windows 7 (Ultimate), as the Spent a whole day trying to sort this out until I found your website. Simply manually running the required 7 updates fixed the problem I was having on two of my Win 7 computers.
Sorry, bit tired i missed that you ran SFC and DISM. This suggests that the update was far too aggressive and technically pedantic. your first option helped me after 5 days of having the same problem. No charge to you, of course.
I installed Never 10, and magically I was able to update again. Otherwise, all the rest installed correctly, Windows Update took a little while but it finally downloaded all the latest important update and a display graphics driver update for AMD. Is it bad being a "bad influence" for my younger great cousin? That's usually a good thing as you may want to test the update before you deploy it on productive machines.To get the update anyway, you need to disable the defer upgrade
