I spend over 40 hours on this one problem trying all the fix that I could find on the internet and Microsoft website. Can message if you has any other probs. January 4, 2017 Reply The steps are geared primarily toward new installations of Windows 7 since the solution gives reproducible positive results in that situation.The steps have worked for others with After, the last update KB3172605 it started working. Clean install of Win7 SP1 wouldn't update, and the windows update service drove CPU and memory usage to ~100%. twice i have faced problem of bad update, and it was resolved by manually downloading the update file. Then on the next kb, same stuck problem again, full shutdown and cold restart worked again.
